So far this year Robert Pattinson hasn’t done me dirty. He’s endlessly entertaining to see on screen. At times his Chris Hansen voice seems to slip slightly into Winslow from The Lighthouse (Eggers, 2019), but maybe that’s just because I’ve watched both in quick succession. Anyway, a Robert Pattinson movie marathon would be full of insane whiplash and fun as hell.
Beyond the star, this is a curious watch. There’s aspects that didn’t totally gel for me; like how Del (Phoebe Bridgers) sticks around with the production for so long after she takes issue with some merch the show is selling and a new, preferred, decoy (Skyler Gisondo) appears on the scene. But it is pretty gripping, and it certainly ferries you along an interesting rollercoaster.
I was struggling to figure out what wasn’t clicking for me as I watched, and walking with a friend afterwards helped me realize. Right there in the name. It’s not about the predators, it’s about beating Lost.
